
Gillette Take On New Charity Of The Year
Leading company Gillette have made Everyman, the male cancer campaign
run by The Institute of Cancer Research, their charity of the year.
Gillette have donated a lump sum of £40,000 to the charity and
in addition they are committed to raising funds through various employee
fundraising events.
At the end of August they were “going sports mad”, wearing
their sports kit to work and running a football tournament. Then, in
September, their male employees joined in with our TacheBack campaign
and raised sponsorship money by growing a tache which were shaved off
at the end of the month using Gillette hair removal products!
Gillette staff will also be taking part in further fundraising events
in 2004
Marcus Swift from Gillette said, “Our employees are enthusiastic
about getting behind this campaign and we are convinced that we can raise
a great deal of money for vital research at the same time as participating
in fun fundraising initiatives which we are sure everyone will enjoy.”
Philip Black, Director of Fundraising from The Institute of Cancer Research
said, “We are delighted that Gillette have come on board to support
Everyman. We hope to create more awareness of testicular and prostate
cancers through this partnership as well as raise vital funds which will
help our scientists in their work.”
