Projects Study Skills (website for Institute PhD students and staff)

Latest developments

June 2006

The intranet version of the Study Skills website was officially launched at a careers workshop for PhD students at The Institute's Chester Beatty Laboratories in July 2002.

Two new sections were added to the site in June 2003 on writing skills for scientific papers and theses. Two further sections went online in June 2005, covering intellectual property and critical reading of scientific papers. The website was also redesigned to have a new look and feel and complies with website accessibility guidelines. The site is mainly used by PhD students at The Institute but research and corporate staff across a range of sections also access it.

A study skills book based on the website content but adapted and expanded for a general science graduate student audience was published by John Wiley & Sons in March 2005.
