Shirtless Celebrities Help Raise Funds for Male Cancers
Hawes and Curtis, the traditional shirt-maker has stripped a number of
celebrities of their favourite shirts to auction at a charity fundraiser
on Thursday 30 January 2003.
A number of famous faces, including Noel Gallagher, Graham Norton and
Jamie Oliver have donated their lucky or special shirts for the auction
in aid of Everyman, the campaign that raises awareness and funds for research
into testicular and prostate cancers.
The Everyman campaign claims that the incidence of male cancers is rising
dramatically and, regretfully, knowledge of the disease amongst men is
at an all time low. Because testicular cancer is 96 per cent curable if
detected early, raising awareness of the disease could literally help
save lives.
The event will also unveil the new-look Jermyn Street store together
with the latest contemporary ‘Curtis’ shirt range, which is
the first ever informal, fashion collection launched by the 90-year old
shirt making company.
