Latest developments
June 2006
Most of the content of the CD ROM program, which will provide
a comprehensive overview of the field of pain management in
cancer, has been written and evaluated by the program advisors.
The advsiors are Anne Chandler, Clinical Nurse Specialist
in pain at St. Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley and John
Williams, Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at
the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London. Work is currently
underway on the case histories and resources sections, as
well as the video components of the program.
We have established an advisory panel for the project, comprising
of leading experts in the field of pain from a range of backgrounds.
The advisory panel will see the content of the CD ROM at the
manuscript stage, before it is programmed, and will be asked
to review and comment on it. This is to ensure that the content
is right for the target audiences, that we have included all
the important information and that we enable a multi-institutional
perspective on the project.
In order to raise awareness of the program, we have begun
exhibiting at relevant conferences in the fields of cancer,
pain management and palliative care. We recently provided
information on the pain management CD ROM at the Palliative
Care Congress in Sheffield (5-7 April 2006). There was a lot
of interest in the program from a range of healthcare professionals.
Please continue to check our website or for details of future conferences we will be exhibiting
at.
More information on the background
to project is available, and an overview is provided in the
project fact sheet.
