The IEU is
working on a variety of projects. These are mainly Web or
CD ROM-based, but other media, such as print, video and audio
may also be used where appropriate. In general, projects to
date tend to follow one of two models:
- Promoting the research or clinical work of The Institute
and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust: examples of
this type of project are A
Breath of Fresh Air, the breathlessness CD ROM program
and RT Plan, the
conformal radiotherapy website (currently under development).
Both of these projects are based on work that has been done,
at least in part, at The Institute and Royal Marsden. They
are peripheral to existing taught educational activities,
although they can complement them by acting as resources
or tools for courses.
- Replacing existing taught courses: examples of this type of
project are Perspectives
in Oncology, the cancer science website and the Study
Skills website. Both of these projects are designed
to replace existing courses.
