June 2006
The IEU currently has a number of partners
who have supported a project either in full or in part. Their
generosity and support have helped us to achieve our aim of
improving the treatment, care and quality of life of people
with cancer.
We are continuously developing new projects and ensuring
current projects are kept up-to-date. To help us maintain
this momentum we are actively seeking funding partnerships
for the following projects:
Perspectives
in Oncology future modules
Perspectives
in Oncology, the cancer science website is a teaching
resource that covers the fundamental concepts in cancer science.
It aims to provide students at The Institute with a thorough
and connected grounding in all aspects of cancer research
and treatment. The website currently has teaching modules
on causes and prevention of cancer, tumour genetics, common
cancers, therapies, bioinformatics and medical physics. There
are plans for additional modules to be added to the site in
the future, including those on tumour biology, cell signalling,
structural biology and experimental therapeutics.
RT
Plan – the conformal radiotherapy website
RT Plan is a website,
currently under development, designed to educate oncology
clinicians and trainees in three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy
(3D CRT) planning in patients with localised prostate cancer.
Patients treated with 3D CRT have improved treatment outcomes
and fewer side effects compared with those undergoing conventional
radiotherapy.
