Molecular Leukaemogenesis and Haemopoiesis

Team Leader: Dr Arthur Zelent

The research interests of the team include:

  • Role of POZ domain zinc finger transcriptional repressors and retinoid receptors in haemopoiesis and haematological malignancies.
  • Molecular mechanisms of transcriptional repression.
  • Cross talk between cytokine receptor-derived signalling pathways and transcription factors (AML1, PLZF, RARA) as well as the leukaemia-associated chimeric oncoproteins (PML-RARA, PLZF-RARA, TEL-AML1).
  • Control of transcriptional activity through protein acetylation.
  • Molecular pathogenesis and treatment of acute leukaemias.
