Inherited Susceptibility to Testicular Cancer
The strongest risk factor for testicular cancer is having a family history of the disease. Researchers at The Institute co-ordinate the only global collaborative, The International Testicular Cancer Linkage Consortium, trying to identify the changes at the genetic level associated with an increased risk of the disease.
The Institute is currently recruiting and studying families that meet the following criteria to identify genetic changes associated with the disease:
- Men with testicular cancer with one or more relative with testicular cancer
- Men who have had testicular cancer with one or more relative with undescended testis
- Men with undescended testis with one or more relative with undescended testis
