Marathon
des Sables 2005
Congratulations
to The Hon. Ralph Foljambe and Captain Sam
Bramall who have successfully completed the 20th Marathon
des Sables for the Everyman male cancer campaign. Described as the
toughest footrace on earth', it is a gruelling 6-day event in the
dusty expanse of the Sahara, in which competitors run a total of
243 kilometres throughout day and night, facing temperatures that
can peak at 49 ° C and drop as low as 2 ° C.
Both
Ralph and Sam described the race as a completely unique and amazing
experience and one they will never do again! Huge thanks must go
to them both for their effort and support.
Completing
the Marathon des Sables is a mammoth achievement, and shows incredible
tenacity and resolve.
Ralph
is now back at home with his family planning his next event on Saturday
4 th June, while Sam continues his posting in Iraq, looking
forward to returning home in July.
