16-20 September 2007
This prestigious international conference will be held at Imperial College, London, and at least 500 delegates primarily psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses medical and clinical oncologists will be attending from more than 50 countries. The conference will take the form of a mixture of workshops, plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations dealing with the psychosocial, supportive and emotional care of patients, their families and carers.

‘The Patient Voice in Quality Cancer Care’ on Wednesday 19 September pm in the Great Hall at Imperial College, South Kensington, London [next to the Science Museum].
We have a very exciting programme with speakers from the USA, UK and Australia.Joanne Rule,[Chief Executive Cancerbackup] and Ellen Stovall, have kindly agreed to be co-discussants.
Speakers. Kim Thiboldeaux, President and CEO, The Wellness Community – ‘Research and Evaluation at The Wellness Community: One Model of Assessing Outcomes at a Community-Based, Non-Profit Organization’.
The Wellness Community, based in the USA, provides free support and education to people affected by cancer. Kim serves in numerous leadership roles in the cancer and health care communities and will talk about the work of the Wellness Community.
Lynn Faulds Wood, President, European Cancer Patient Coalition, and Founder, Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign – ‘The Importance of Psycho-oncology - A Tale of Two Hospitals’
Lynn is an award-winning UK TV presenter who survived advanced colorectal cancer. Lynn has involved major figures (such as Prince Charles and the Pope) in campaigns to raise awareness of colorectal cancer. She runs the UK charity “Lynn’s Bowel Cancer Campaign” and will be talking about her experiences in doing this work.

Sally was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 1995 and 2004 and founded the Breast Cancer Action Group NSW , Australia in 1997. She acts as consumer representative on a number of committees, research, clinical and policy, at state and national levels. Sally was a founding member of the new Cancer Voices Australia, having promoted the need for a national advocacy group for Australians affected by cancer. She will talk about this experience.
