Tesco Joins the Fight Against Male Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, affecting over 30,000 men a year. One man dies every hour of this disease. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-45 years.

F+F for Men at Tesco has joined forces with Everyman, the leading campaign against male cancer, to champion the fight for awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.

F+F for Men at Tesco with ground breaking cancer campaign, Everyman, are spearheading the drive to raise vital funds for research into this growing problem with the launch of limited edition 'Protect your Nuts' pants, which will retail at Ј5 per pair. Tesco is donating 100% of profits from every pair of pants to this worthwhile campaign.

Kick starting the campaign is the launch of exclusive "Protect Your Nuts" cotton lycra trunks in vibrant orange, stylish black and sleek navy. Complete with logo and slogan these limited edition trunks are available in over 380 stores from January 16th. Sure to amuse anyone who catches you with your trousers down, each pair of trunks will be accompanied by an information booklet entitled "What Everyman should know" and a keyring to reinforce the message.

An in-store presence, dedicated web space and Tesco customer magazine activity is set to ignite the 'Protect your Nuts' campaign throughout the month of January with wide ranging media exposure expected.

F+F for Men and Everyman aim to encourage men to not only put 'Protect your Nuts' pants through the checkout but also to 'check out' what's going on inside them! Although awareness of male cancer has increased, not nearly enough men know how to check for early warning signs of these cancers. F+F for Men at Tesco intend to create increased media driven awareness amongst those most at risk, using tongue-in-cheek humour combined with a serious health message.

Everyman advises regular self examination to establish normal feel and size of the testicles so that irregular lumps can be spotted early on. Most commonly diagnosed in older men, prostate cancer is not so easily detected. The Everyman Campaign urgently requires funds to further their vital research into this under-funded disease.

Everyman was founded by the charity The Institute of Cancer Research in 1997 specifically to help banish the taboos of male cancer. The Institute has set up the first and only dedicated male cancer research centre in Europe, which was entirely funded by the Everyman Campaign.

F+F for Men at Tesco hope you have the balls to help support the fight against prostate and testicular cancer.
