Why Make A Will?

Making a Will is extremely important, perhaps more so than you think, because if you die without one, everything does not automatically pass to your partner or spouse.

Leave nothing to chance - make a Will! It's easy, inexpensive, it doesn't take long, and it's the best way to ensure that the people you care about are left financially secure. So don't leave without one.

Our Information Sheets will answer most questions you may have, but do consult a professional to ensure your Will is drawn up correctly. So that The Institute benefits from any intended legacy, we recommend that you use our legacy clauses.

Recommended legacy clauses:

Legacies left simply to 'cancer research' result in confusion and unnecessary administrative work as the legacy is not effective without reference to the Treasury Solicitor for direction. It may also mean that your gift is allocated to another charity. We suggest that you use the following words as appropriate:

Residuary legacy: I give all (or specify share) of the residue of my real and personal estate to The Institute of Cancer Research of 123, Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3RP (X90004) and the receipt of the Legacy Officer or other proper officer for the time being shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.

Pecuniary legacy: I give the sum of £... to The Institute of Cancer Research of 123, Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3RP (X90004) and the receipt of the Legacy Officer or other proper officer for the time being shall be a complete discharge to my Executors.

Alternatively, make your Will online - we are affiliated with The Will Site Ltd at www.thewillsite.co.uk. This enables you to make a Will via the internet instead of visiting a solicitor. Wills are produced, taking the answers from your extensive questionnaire, under the supervision of solicitors and double-checked for accuracy. Prices are very competitive. Have your Will made quickly and help us in our fight against cancer.

If you still don't think you need a Will, visit www.thewillsite.co.uk and answer the questions in the 'No Will?' section to see who gets what if you die without a Will.
